Security Options

The security page allows you to enter usernames and passwords for secure websites and any proxy servers or firewalls which might need authentication.

If authentication fails, the option is available to be prompted for a username and password to access the proxy or website.

Internet Authorisation

Takes a username and optional password to use for authentication on secure websites. First enter the username, and then click on the "Set Internet Password" button to enter a password. If a previously entered password exists, the button text will read "Set New Internet Password".

Proxy Authorisation

Takes a username and optional password to use for authentication on proxy servers/firewalls. First enter the username, and then click on the "Set Proxy Password" button to enter a password. If a previously entered password exists, the button text will read "Set New Proxy Password".

Security Note

The passwords will be stored in the registry for future sessions in an encrypted form. However, the encryption is only simple and should not be considered secure. If your password is sensitive, you should either clear the username field before exiting WebReaper (which prevents the password from being stored in the registry) or stick to using the username & password prompt dialog which will be displayed during downloads (and does not store the password).
